Earth Element:
An Amazing Guide for Grounding

Earth Element as Magic and Medicine

The earth element is part of the basic foundations of spiritual knowledge in the connection of the four elements earth, air, water and fire. These elements are what make up the energies of Life, and thus us.

Once a person masters all four energies and understands how to operate them within, they learn how to master their life by overcoming traumas with true healing.

When we are suffering from any health condition, whether it is in the mind, body or soul, we can look to the elements to help us understand what to examine to strengthen.

Often, it is a combination of working with all the elements to heal, however sometimes it can be a lack of an element altogether.

The way to figure this out is to study the elements and then meditate on these understandings in your own life. In this, you can intuit  your own medicine and be your own healer.

An example is that if you are too much in your water element all the time and find yourself unable to do things because your emotions are always sneaking up on you, it might be that you’re not spending enough time with your earth element, grounding yourself.

In earth energy, we learn to plant both feet firmly on the ground and make a stand and stand strong.

Sitting next to a tree, and connecting with it, can help us feel that energy. Similarly, large boulders, mountains, and the earth itself, help us understand how to sit and weather the storm.

We can learn to be that unmoving tree or boulder when we set our mind to something.

Similarly, if you find yourself in your head too much (air) and scattered about, or you’re running amuck from one thing to another and too much into your fire, the earth element can help you balance the other elements out by learning to be still, sit still, and just “be” with the yourself.

There is great strength in this magic of learning to be still, steady and strong. To be patient with life so that things have time to birth, unfold, change or mature into what we wish them to be.

Earth magic helps us to harness that into our lives through calming the mind, calming the emotions, and calming the body into quietness.

To be quiet doesn’t always mean to literally stop talking or thinking. Sometimes being quiet can mean just being silent on a certain subject. To let it rest for a bit so that it can do its thing.

Earth element generally focuses on the areas of our lives that involve the physical body, money and finances, work and career, material possessions and things related to these areas.

It is also connected to Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn in astrology. In the tarot, the suit of Pentacles is equal to earth element energy.

These tools can also help us to ascertain what we need most in our life to take that next step.

If you’re struggling with your physical health, finances, or career, start learning to bring in more earth energy by learning to be still, meditate, and connect with your own intuition.

Ask what you need to help you feel more grounded in life on a daily basis. What earth medicine would your intuitive guidance tell you to utilize in your life?

What things do you think of that make you feel grounded, safe, secure, connected, stable, and patient?

What things come to mind when you think about these questions? Write them down where you can see them daily. Form an affirmation around them.

As you keep building up the earth element, make sure to use balance with air, water, and fire, keeping the fifth element as your ultimate mastery goal.

Indications You Need the
Earth Element Magic In Your Life

You could have indications of both too little earth and too much earth in different areas of your life.

If you’re really organized at work, but your house is a pig pen, these are indications of both too much and too little earth.

The magic is learning to balance these extremes through practicing this energy.

We don’t want too much or too little of any of the energies, so we must learn to find the sweet spot, which is the magic that comes from working with it in our daily life.

We learn through the body that too much exercise and movement leaves us exhausted, but not enough and we feel heavy, restless and can become ill.

  • Ill or chronic health issues
  • Excess weight
  • Depression
  • Feeling disconnected from your body
  • Scattered thoughts/energy – ADHD
  • No patience
  • Career/work/financial issues
  • Lack of discipline
  • Lacking work ethic
  • Workaholic
  • Lack of fun and play (overly serious)
  • PTSD/CPTSD/anxiety/social anxiety/bi-polar/autism/ASD
  • Lack of confidence

Affirmations for Earth Element Energy

  • I feel safe
  • I am patient
  • I spend time grounding myself daily
  • I always feel secure
  • I trust and believe in myself
  • All good things come to those who wait
  • Life happens in perfect timing

These are very basic affirmations, so the best thing is to work with them and adapt them to your own life.

Sit with them and ask yourself what they bring up for you, or how they might connect to areas where you want to improve. Keep working with the statements until you develop one where you can feel it in your body when you say it.

The feeling is the most important part of an affirmation. Without it, you’re just repeating words mechanically.

Also, getting the body involved with these is a fantastic way to speed up the process.

For instance, a very popular thing people are doing now is EFT, which stands for Emotional Freedom Tapping, created by Gary Craig for veterans with PTSD suffering from very intense and debilitating flashbacks or war experiences.

There are many places on the internet to learn more about this such as on YouTube, Facebook and websites from practitioners who specialize in EFT, like Gary Craig himself.

However, there are many other ways you can get the body involved with your affirmations, such as even just reciting them while exercising.

Building confidence through the earth element is also another factor in developing mastery with all the elements.

Sitting at your desk 8 hours a day would be too much earth element energy and cause stagnation. There must be balance.
